Three parquet floors for a dream villa in Verona

The villa in all its details

We are delighted to have been involved in the realisation of this villa, a great piece of work conceived down to the last detail, where you can see the architect's hand and appreciate innovative choices. Even from the outside the house manages to convey its character (high stone-clad walls, exposed white beams, marble floors and a swimming pool), but it is only when we enter that we discover its full identity!

Opening the door, our eyes are reflected on a seemingly classic and highly polished Venetian style floor that houses the kitchen and living room. Entering into the details we notice how for the part dedicated to the living room the colour of the Venetian terrazzo becomes lighter, run through the perimeter by a darker orange grit, which lives more consistently in the corner dedicated to the kitchen: a great way to give an ideal separation to the areas. 

This floor accompanies all the other materials chosen and frames the sculptural internal staircase, designed by the architect, which bears his signature: a carved "s", repeated in the door to the upper floor, where we enter to see the bedroom.

Walnut flooring

Climbing the steps with their iridescent colours, which take on different tones depending on the light, we find the first wood chosen: a European walnut floore with a warm tone and a shaded rustic look, laid with a special modular laying pattern.

This wood flooring was laid in the spectacular loft overlooking the open space and the master bedroom, which is secluded in the upper part where a small suite is created in the home, complete with walk-in wardrobe and en-suite bathroom.

The laying of the wood distinguishes this parquet and makes these two rooms unique and interesting, remaining elegant and conveying the right amount of calm in spite of the rough pattern.

Modern bleached parquet

Moving on to the sleeping area on the ground floor, we enter a completely different world. The owner's office and her son's bedroom, which are connected by high walls and a mezzanine created to provide a play area for the little one, are clad in bleached oak with a very modern colour scheme.

The oak is not only laid on the floor, but is also used throughout this part of the house as a wall covering for the flush and sliding doors. It is also used to create made-to-measure furniture for the small bedroom and to make the staircase leading to the loft, protected by glass railings that allow light to circulate. A riot of wood that is enhanced by bands of LEDs, which you can also find in the rest of the house as a distinctive sign. 

The final sensation is that of entering an all-encompassing space, a treasure chest, where the owner can concentrate in her zen office and her son can relax in his multi-level room.

Parquet flooring in the gym with private bathroom

Going down to the basement we can reach, passing through the tavern that we will see in a moment, the gym and the adjoining bathroom. Here the elegant and modern bleached oak returns on the floor, on the wall in the bathroom and on the storage unit in the workout room. 

A clear reference to the upper part of the house, reinforced by the use of LED bars on the ceiling that run along the line of the basement room. 

Rustic wood floor

In the basement, we laid the last parquet floor in the house: a rustic wood floor with squares, which recalls in its laying pattern the wooden coffers on the ceiling decorated with LED inlays and the finely decorated wooden wall.

Here on the side you can appreciate the unfinished tavern before the wood was laid, which warms up the whole room with a strong honey tone and a refined oiled finish. The parquet is laid on an underfloor heating system that will keep the room warm during winter dinners.

An extremely elegant basement which contrasts in the choice of surfaces with the rest of the house, finding modernity in the chosen furnishings.
