A renovation that saw this home transform to accommodate a family of four people, two university-aged children with the need for privacy and an environment in which to study and a young couple who want to enjoy their living space.

Floors, stairs and bathrooms for a house on a hill

Let’s step together into a home in the Veronese hills that involved me, together with my team, in the interior finishes of floors and stairs and in the furnishings of the bathroom areas.

The clients booked an appointment in our Showroom in Gambellara in view of the renovation of their home, in search of a flooring that would also involve the internal stairs. They wanted natural, warm and welcoming materials that would create the right atmosphere to truly feel at home.

Chatting with them to understand their needs and discover their aesthetic tastes, they told us that the two bathrooms also needed a new life, and so we started to sketch out some ideas for the furniture layout, until their enthusiastic confirmation of the projects and the on-site realization arrived.

Now let’s take a closer look at these living spaces, starting the story from the living area!

Oak wood flooring

Wood flooring in the living area?

I must admit that there was a lot of discussion about how to floor the living area, in fact the clients had some concerns about laying parquet in this large environment that includes the kitchen and that would also host guests, but after viewing different types of wood and analyzing their characteristics we found the right solution that eliminated all their doubts!

Yes, but with a heat-treated wood

We are talking about a heat-treated oak floor with an intermediate color that matches neutral furnishings, a slightly knotted essence with color-matched filling that blends with the variations and grain patterns typical of this flooring, much more resistant than normal oak parquet.

Discover here the characteristics and the processing of this type of parquet: Heat-treated oak flooring

This natural material that continues and runs through the different rooms of the house, entering the bathrooms and going up the stairs, gives a sense of coherence and unity that connects the living area to the sleeping area, although located on two different living floors.

Living area bathroom, wood and porcelain stoneware

Living area bathroom, the surfaces

Passing through the door completely clad in wood, we find ourselves inside the anteroom from which we glimpse the furnishings and coverings of the bathroom dedicated to this floor of the house.
In this bathroom we wanted to work with materials by using them as transversal surfaces: this concept allowed us to lay the heat-treated wood and the stone-effect porcelain stoneware both on the floor, as cladding, on the ceiling, in the shower tray but also to use it to create the shelf with integrated washbasin.

Which floor tile and which wall tile?

Following this design ideology, we create architectural elements that break away from the clear division between floor tiles and wall tiles, we go beyond this concept, now outdated, playing with materials that act as interchangeable surfaces and that thus involve multiple elements and spaces, giving a greater aesthetic impact and a coherent effect in the room.
We enhanced this concept with plasterboard volumes and well-designed lighting, to highlight changes in direction and combinations between different materials.

Large slabs that connect and contrast

We chose together with the clients large slabs for the shower background that would stand out from the other materials and stand out compared to the other textures: it is a marble effect with a deep blue background, with many veins in different shades of beige that recall wood and stone so as not to lose the thread of coherence that ties this bathroom environment together.

A precious bathroom for the living area

Internal stairs in wood and porcelain stoneware

Two internal stairs, two materials

In this home two staircases have been arranged, which divide the floors and the areas of the house each dedicated to different daily functions, which we decided to use to further separate the levels by using two different materials to create the steps.

Stoneware staircase for the entrance

The first staircase we walk along welcomes us at the entrance and leads us to the entry of the house, we chose to cover it in stone-effect porcelain stoneware with a variegated and dynamic look that we have already seen in the living area bathroom, a natural surface with a light background but dotted with darker micro inclusions.
The client, during our visit a few months after moving in and starting to live in the spaces of her new home, tells us that this tile is really practical, easy to clean and that even entering with shoes from outside possible footprints are not visible, precisely because of its highly varied pattern.

Wood staircase, towards the sleeping area

Opening the front door we find ourselves facing another scenario, a dark and warm wood floor that we laid both in the open space of the living area and on the second floor, levels connected by two flights of steps covered with the same heat-treated parquet.

The warmth of the wood allows us to go upstairs barefoot towards the bedrooms, read here the in-depth article on the benefits: Walking barefoot on wood

Sleeping area bathroom for the children

Consistency also in the sleeping area

Lobster orange lacquer, black metal-effect porcelain stoneware, stainless steel details for this bathroom in the sleeping area in which our "binding elements", the stone effect and the oak, are not missing.
We wanted to bring back the stone-effect porcelain stoneware, with which the entrance stairs were covered and which becomes the protagonist in the living area bathroom, to create a frame that surrounds the shower and sanitary fixtures, involving the custom-made shower tray and the ceiling which also in this environment becomes an integral part of the cladding.

Color and metal effect for the two children

The heat-treated parquet from the bedrooms enters and floors the area of the suspended cabinet: a furnishing element that was desired by the children of our clients (for whom this bathroom is reserved) with an orange lacquer that stands out and two washbasin stations useful for using the water sources also simultaneously by the two children.
Here the concept of surface returns: the large slab black oxide-effect porcelain stoneware has been laid on the wall, acts as a backsplash behind the washbasins and has also been used as the top of the cabinet.

Who are we?

You should know that we are a small family business, made up of a team of designers and site technicians who collaborate with planners, craftsmen, installers and companies. We try to give our best in every home we work on, then documenting works and results.
We work almost always with custom-made solutions and we offer you only high-quality products, always choosing Made In Italy. Therefore it is difficult to find with us entry-level products or inexpensive craftsmen. Even if we try to avoid surprises, our services - consultancy, assistance in the selection, project and render of the spaces, site inspections, assistance during the construction site and in the after-sales - are included in the price of your quote.

Our strengths and, above all, our weaknesses

Having us work on your home means creating an important relationship, we know it. Surely you will have a thousand doubts, all legitimate. For this reason, before choosing us as a partner, you should above all know our weaknesses. And for this reason we have collected them on a page (well, we also included some strengths).
Some clients, dissatisfied with us, helped us by writing rather severe reviews, while others were far too generous. Reading our weaknesses, in black and white, will warn you, for example, against expecting a "quick quote", since we are, unfortunately, slow.
You can find everything here: "who we are and how we work according to our clients".
