A wooden home built by Naturalmente Casa based on a design by Studio Gallo in which we were involved for modern interior and exterior finishes, and for custom-made furnishings in every room of the house.

House renovation: in wood!

A renovation that was able to reconcile the volume of the ground floor, which remained externally unchanged, with the demolition and reconstruction of the first floor and the demolition of the internal spaces of the ground floor. A challenge that primarily involved the Gallo architecture studio which created the designs, Naturalmente Casa, which took care of the construction of the new portion of the building made of wood, and us, partners for the realization of floors, kitchen coverings, lights and furnishings.

We tell you about this project together with the architect Giorgio Gallo, who oversaw the structural design of this home:

"The contrast between the stone base and the plastered upper volume emerges in the triangular exception, where some secrets of the composition are revealed.” Gallo Giorgio

The roof, with whitewashed beams like seagull wings and painted steel beams, surrounds us in an extraordinary movement. The architect explains what inspired the proposal of this particular configuration:

"The simplicity of the plan dialogues with the complexity of the roof, which characterizes and defines the interior spaces immersed in natural light that marks the rhythm of life." Giorgio Gallo

External flooring

The external flooring is a bit like the business card of our home, that is why we have dedicated the same attention to detail with which the internal spaces were designed.

The entrance ramp, made of multi-width squared porphyry, allows access for cars to store them directly in the garage, that is why it had to be a practical and resistant driveway passage: the smolleri, irregular bush-hammered porphyry strips, create two parallel tracks thus increasing grip and avoiding tire slipping caused by ice and rain.

In the pedestrian area we instead opted for a large-format porcelain stoneware, 60x120 cm, with a ceppo di gré stone effect in the color most similar to the shades of porphyry for a coherence of surfaces. In the staircase that leads us to the entrance door we opted for the same material but in slabs of 75x150 cm, so as not to have any central joint. Riser and tread were laid in the Roman pattern with visible edge as this tile is made with the full body technique, therefore the same finish of the surface is also present in the mass.
If outside the R11 anti-slip finish was installed, inside we find the same tile but in the soft natural version.

To lighten and give contrast to the gray color of the floor we created the recurrence and the skirting board in Pietra di Prun with warm ivory white tones, a material that also outlines the separation between the traditional flooring and the modern structure of the house.

External flooring in wpc & internal wooden herringbone flooring

Materials and surfaces continuously dialogue with each other, even between indoor and outdoor spaces: the wooden floor in Italian herringbone transforms into wpc decking in the external patio, two similar materials but designed to give their best in two different situations.

The oak floor in tobacco-colored herringbone warms and gives a modern and original style. The wpc decking, in the same nuance, allows us to have a practical external surface, which does not require maintenance and recalls the internal parquet.

"The theme of the project is the patio, which stands as an ordering structure of the spaces and of the new entrance" Giorgio Gallo

The kitchen furnishing, custom-made and timeless

At the entrance of the new wooden home we are welcomed by a large open space where the exposed beam ceiling and the herringbone flooring are co-protagonists, enhancing together the aerial space and the horizontal one. The modern and minimal kitchen, custom-made in our workshop, is positioned right at the center of this spacious and bright environment.

Large porcelain stoneware slabs with a flamed Pietra Piasentina stone effect cover the central island with a 45-degree joint between sides and top, a workmanship that aims to convey the vision of a single monolith. This material ceramic surface, scratch-resistant and stain-resistant, also entirely involves the working bases, arranged in the lower part of the back wall, to reinforce the total look concept.
For the columns and base unit doors we opted for a reinforced matte lacquer, polyester-based, which gives a soft vision to the whole.

On the island we placed the induction hob with integrated filtering hood and the sink made and processed as a single piece, with the same porcelain stoneware. At the request of the clients, the stainless steel kitchen taps were integrated with a microfiltration and refrigeration system that allows the dispensing of cold, still and sparkling water.

Below I leave you the projects (really identical to reality!!), some photos of the kitchen assembly phase.. always a delicate moment of strength, precision and calm and finally the photos of the realization.

Living room furnishing

A very essential living project, which follows our philosophy: less is more!

In this environment we inserted a double-sided fireplace, which will warm the souls on winter evenings, an element that requires to be incorporated into the furnishing and to take part in the equipped wall of the living room.
The need for storage spaces is satisfied by a simple suspended chest of drawers, custom-made, which runs along the entire wall and is finished with the same lacquer as the kitchen.

To give three-dimensionality to the project, we designed a backlit false wall on which the TV will be placed and where a bookcase takes shape that stands next to and embellishes the structure of the fireplace, a furnishing element that beautifies the entire composition by recalling the same wood as the floor.

Night area bathroom: the wellness room

The master bathroom, dedicated to the couple, is a true wellness room, a private bathroom where to pamper oneself and regenerate.

In the design, a partition placed at the center of the room was conceived to divide two furnishings linked to the power of water: on one side we find a relaxing freestanding bathtub and on the other the practical walk-in shower with seat.

But let’s shift the attention to the splendid contrast between the large slabs, the matte stone-effect ones that enhance the glossy marble-effect ones; surfaces with important dimensions and textures, which have been used to define the areas of this large bathroom but also to compose furnishing pieces such as the custom-made shelf with double integrated sink (a real challenge to make it in these dimensions!), the towel-warming radiators, the side of the custom-made furniture at the entrance and the flush floor shower tray.

The bathroom environment is enriched by stainless steel taps with a light gold finish, if you want to explore the topic further I leave you the reference link: The finishes of the taps

The guest bathroom in the living area

The wooden herringbone floor accompanies us and enters with us into the guest bathroom where it continues to give continuity to the environment and merge with the large cladding slabs with a warm-toned ceppo di grè stone effect.

For the bathroom dedicated to guests we designed a project that alternates volumes: the cabinet rests on a false wall, the shower is recessed with a backlit corner niche and everything creates a play of perspectives and three-dimensionality that captures the attention and increases the perception of the size of the space.

The wood of the floor is taken up again in the front of the custom-made cabinet, where it meets the ceramic of the soft countertop basin and the matte top in tone with the cladding in dark tones, a new porcelain stoneware characterized by a print that recalls the small blocks typical of natural stone.

The final realization

The master bedroom, between raw lime finishes and walk-in closets

The master bedroom was not yet completed at the time of the photo shoot, but we still want to tell you about it because the project was modified and rethought during the design phase until reaching a minimal solution, with spacious furnishings and a particular decorative finish.

The clients’ desire to have ample spaces for storing clothes was fulfilled by creating a walk-in closet dedicated to her, accessible from the bedroom, and one dedicated to him located in the corridor leading to the night area bathroom. For both closets we had custom-made matte white lacquered modules created with drawers and spacious open compartments that host shelves and hanging rails, all skillfully illuminated with LEDs that facilitate the visibility and the choice of garments.

This solution of dividing the furnishing spaces allowed us to adopt a minimal style in the master bedroom, furnished only with primary elements: a bed structure that seems to be suspended and matte white bedside tables, an ambient wall light and two reading lights that will be installed on both sides of the bed. While respecting the chosen style, we proposed adding a wall decoration in raw lime in warm peach tones that would highlight the headboard and also involve the door, but we will tell you about this detail shortly.

Flush internal doors, clad in porcelain stoneware and raw lime

We installed flush doors with the innovative idea of cladding them with the same finishes as the walls, almost making them disappear and becoming one with the decorated surface.

The door that from the night area bathroom leads to the master bedroom was dressed in large slabs of porcelain stoneware with a Pietra Piasentina stone effect, while the door that divides the bedroom from the walk-in closet takes up the raw lime applied on the entire wall.

Custom-made wardrobe in the corridor

Also in the main corridor, which leads from the living area to the night area, a large custom-made wardrobe was planned to accommodate jackets, coats, shoes and bags of the couple, but also of the guests.

It is a wardrobe with sliding doors that completely hide the content, a content that can be diversified according to needs as we designed the internal compartments by differentiating them from each other in order to also use them as storage and equipment space for house cleaning (brooms, vacuum cleaner..).
