Outdoor floor for an elegant house in Montecchio Maggiore

"Much like any exterior design project, our process commences with a thorough assessment of the context. Where exactly are we? What elements form our immediate surroundings? What architectural style characterizes the house? These initial queries initiate the creative gears, allowing us to pinpoint the optimal solution that best aligns with the specific conditions and requirements of the case.

Observing the house, its elegance is striking: the warm, golden-brown window frames stand out against the backdrop of white Vicenza stone. One side of the house is adorned with stone cladding while exposed beams add a touch of warmth to the structure. Considering the house's scale, my choice gravitated towards fine porphyry. Its diverse hues complement the house's details, interspersed with grey stone featuring a somewhat rugged, practical, and clean texture."

Porphyry is the protagonist of this outdoor floor and is used in various formats to give more dynamism to the overall composition. There are therefore three different types of porphyry flooring:

1. The first part, where we find the basement garages of the house, is paved with an uncut porphyry, characterised by irregular shapes and geometries;
2. On the steep slide leading to the house, on the other hand, there are porphyry strips used to increase the grip of the wheels on the floor;
3. Finally, square porphyry, also used in cubes, is used to pave both the slide and the area near the house.

The last material to make up this elegant outdoor floor is grey stone with a wavy pattern, which provides an excellent grip on the stairs and hides any defects or accidents, unlike other light-coloured stones used for outdoor paving. Especially for the external stairs it was essential to choose a material that was non-slip. 

The same material runs around the perimeter of the house, marking the pedestrian area, and paving the outdoor patio for lunches and dinners with friends and family on fine days. Here the floor stands out in a particular contrast with the well-kept greenery of the owners and the exposed beams that make the vaulting more interesting. A small corner of quiet in the city, where the light fills the space to the brim and is reflected on the outdoor floor in a soft way.
