House renovation: 5 bathrooms among the hills of Valpolicella

There is a magical moment, during a renovation, in which the dust of the construction site gives way to light and the chosen materials finally begin to "speak". It happens when the soul of a historic house is respected, without being afraid to bring it into the present through decisive and functional material choices.

Today Roberto takes you among the vineyards of Valpolicella to show you a truly special house.

Restoring a home with such an important value is not just a matter of "laying materials". It means first of all knowing how to listen to its history and choosing colors and surfaces that respect its memory.

In this construction site we worked side by side with the architects Lisa Zorzanello and Roberto Grigolon: together we tried to let the charm of the past speak with the cleanliness of modern design.

For the bathroom dedicated to the homeowners we chose to focus on large surfaces and high-quality technical materials, capable of combining maximum resistance with a striking aesthetic.

The absolute protagonist of the cladding is the Reves Vert series by Florim, proposed in large slabs of 120x280 cm: a porcelain stoneware that does not merely imitate marble, but captures its most precious soul by recalling the transparency and ancient beauty of alabaster. Its soft shades and emerald green tones transform the space into a refined refuge, whose static nature has been broken, in close synergy with the architects, through a careful study of the volumes.

The ceiling, in fact, is the result of a choice shared with the architecture studio: it was designed on two different heights to create an interplay of interlocking elements that naturally defines the functional areas. This architectural movement was further emphasized by the decision, taken together with the architects, to highlight the lower level with a darker and deeper shade: a tailor-made solution designed to give rhythm, character and an unprecedented perspective to the entire project.

The furniture, with its oak wood structure organized with two large drawers, houses the countertop washbasin creating a perfect mix between modernity and the warmth of tradition.

In this environment, the stainless steel finish tapware defines the entire project: its discreet elegance pairs perfectly with the wood, while ensuring maximum resistance and functionality for everyday use. The choice to install the wall-mounted washbasin mixer was designed to give more lightness and importance to the porcelain stoneware countertop with integrated washbasin.

In this environment we wanted to play with color and geometries, creating a real "jewel" dedicated to guests where tradition and innovation coexist harmoniously.

On the floor we find cement tiles, decorated tiles with a classic taste that strongly evoke the flavor of homes of the past and the historical memory of the place.

In contrast with this traditional base, for the cladding we dared with blue diamond-effect porcelain stoneware strips, a solution that thanks to its particular texture gives depth and movement to the wall.

The central element and true protagonist of the space remains however the freestanding washbasin in matte ceramic, a piece of pure design served by a refined floor-mounted tap that rises directly from the floor, completing the room with a touch of extreme modernity.

In this bathroom dedicated to guests, the aesthetic is defined by a refined minimalism that proceeds by subtraction: fewer joints, fewer interruptions, more space for the purity of forms.

We confirmed the use of 120x120 stone-effect porcelain stoneware. The reduction of joints is not only an aesthetic advantage to create a continuous surface, but also ensures superior hygiene.

Warming the space is the natural oak furniture with two doors and two large drawers, on which the matte resin washbasin rests. It is a combination we love: the resin gives a velvety texture and extreme practicality, while the wood dialogues perfectly with the walls.

Finally, the chrome-plated brass tapware defines the character of the room with a touch of essential elegance. A detail that completes the project, making the guest bathroom on the upper floor a welcoming space cared for in every detail."

Finally, we move towards the Limonaia, a suggestive architectural volume currently in the final stages of completion. For this space we created two bathrooms characterized by a more minimal and rustic taste, specifically designed for an apartment intended to be less frequently used compared to the main building, but no less carefully detailed in every single aspect.

In the first bathroom of the Limonaia we created a refined play of textures and symmetries, where every element is designed to dialogue with the proportions of the room. The cladding is characterized by slabs in the 60 x 120 format with a grooved finish, a fluted texture that creates a clear and material vertical rhythm, capable of giving momentum to the walls. This geometric scan pairs perfectly with the volume of the furniture proposed in a warm brick color tone, a chromatic choice that recalls local earth tones and traditional materials.

Completing the aesthetics and functionality of the washbasin block we find the countertop with integrated basin in matte resin, a technical surface that ensures visual continuity, maximum hygiene and a pleasant tactile sensation.

Instead, in the second bathroom we chose a dark walnut furniture, a warm and noble essence that is paired with gray stone-effect tiles for a balanced and natural chromatic result.

The real touch of warmth and personality is however given by the shower base, for which a terracotta-effect porcelain stoneware was selected: it is a material that speaks the language of rural and welcoming interiors, recalling the architectural tradition of the territory.

This combination of surfaces allows to maintain a modern aesthetic rigor, where the material texture of the stone blends with the earthy shades of terracotta, creating an intimate atmosphere deeply connected to the historical roots of the dwelling. To complete the project, we used chrome-plated tapware.

Seeing this home completed today fills me with pride: the result faithfully reflects the initial vision born from the first sketches, a studied harmony between the nature of the materials, the play of light and the welcoming character of the spaces. However, the most precious achievement remains the reaction of the owners; their emotion and seeing themselves fully represented in every detail, whether technical or aesthetic, are for us the most important confirmation of the work carried out together.

Now, our task ends here, leaving it to the life and daily routine of the clients to fill every room of this splendid house.
