We supplied and installed office flooring in Veronella (Verona), using porcelain stoneware in the modern 120×120 format.
Here we tell you how the idea was developed and the different phases of the project execution.

Office flooring for Robbi Group, Verona

Robbi Group is a company that manufactures metalworking machinery and is based in Veronella, in the province of Verona.

The company’s new facility—made necessary by its growth—also includes an area of approximately 1,600 square meters dedicated to offices, laboratories, and a staff canteen. We were commissioned to supply and install the flooring for these spaces.

Choosing the office flooring

A new facility

The Robbi family is directly involved in managing the family-run company in Veronella. With the determination, humility, and entrepreneurial spirit that are so typical of our region of Veneto, the company has grown to the point where it became necessary to relocate production and laboratories to a new, larger building—one better suited to accommodating the various production departments.

Flooring needed urgently

After acquiring the site and navigating the many challenges that Italian bureaucracy inevitably brings, the Robbi family came to visit us and asked for a quotation for the flooring of their new offices. Due to these bureaucratic complications and the resulting delays, the owners emphasized that installing the flooring was a matter of urgency.

Needs and selection criteria

We discussed their needs in detail, considering issues such as how easily materials get dirty, the type of dirt produced by the manufacturing processes, and the circulation routes between changing rooms, bathrooms, workshops, and offices. Through an in-depth conversation, we were able to fully understand their requirements, define a budget, and consequently recommend the most suitable products.

From resin to porcelain stoneware

Initially, the Robbi family had requested a resin floor. However, after explaining the potential issues associated with resin—especially given the intended use of the flooring—we were able to steer them away from this option, which would most likely have led to future problems.

A porcelain stoneware tile for offices and laboratories

Three alternatives

We presented three options—three different types of porcelain stoneware tiles—that could be used and would be perfectly suited to the intended application, taking into account the client’s wish to have a single, continuous surface throughout all areas of the facility.

Time for testing

We then moved on to the testing phase, delivering the samples and asking the client to deliberately soil and clean them, in order to see firsthand which surface performed best when dealing with the metallic dust residues generated in the workshop.

A clear (dark) winner

At the end of the testing phase, one tile clearly stood out and was selected—the same tile you’ll see in the photos at the end of this article.

One single tile in different formats

“I want a Bricoman price!”

In order to stay within the Robbi family’s budget (Mr. Robbi specifically asked for a “Bricoman- or Leroy Merlin–proof price”), we worked with two different formats: a 120×120 tile for the entrance area, reception, and waiting rooms, and a smaller format (60×120) for the internal offices and the rest of the facility.
The smaller format also allowed for lower installation costs.

Some areas first grade, others second grade

In the most representative areas, those intended for clients, we used the larger format in first grade. In other areas, we managed to further reduce costs by using not only a smaller format but also a batch of tiles classified as “second choice” by the manufacturer ABK. This was done with full transparency toward the client and only after verifying that the defects were minimal and acceptable.

A significant discount!

We also negotiated a special price with the same supplier, given the large volume of the order. The supplier accommodated our request, and we in turn met Mr. Robbi’s expectations—managing to supply the material at a price even lower than what he would have spent at one of the major French DIY retail chains.

Flooring for the office entrance area

The office entrance is designed to create an immersive experience connected to the company’s brand identity. An antique drafting table represents the ability to design, to develop ideas, and to create tailor-made solutions.

The Robbi family wanted a waiting area for guests and clients that would introduce the company’s core values—capable of telling its story while looking toward the future—through the use of modern materials and furnishings.

“Durable tiles where dirt doesn’t show”

Six months after installation

About six months after the installation, we visited the Robbi family again to exchange Christmas greetings and to hear their feedback over time. Generally, when a client doesn’t call, it means everything is going well—but we often take advantage of a photo shoot to ask whether the flooring truly meets their needs. There is always something to learn.

Beautiful and easy to clean!

Mrs. Robbi welcomed us with a smile and confirmed that she is extremely happy with the flooring: it’s easy to clean, dirt doesn’t show, and it has received many compliments. The challenges faced during the construction phase (especially timelines that were longer than expected due to municipal bureaucracy) are now a thing of the past, and the whole family is happily working in the new facility—which is truly beautiful.

One portion of the offices has been completed, furnished, and is already in use, while another area (as shown in the photos) currently features only the flooring and still needs to be completed with furnishings.

Thank you!

Our thanks go to the Robbi family for their trust, which we hope we have fully repaid, and also for allowing us to photograph and showcase this project. And thank you for taking the time to read this article.
