A home in which you can feel in every corner the coherence that connects the materials and from which the passion with which it was designed and conceived shines through

New home, custom finishes

Today we take you into this beautiful home, the result of the project by architect Apolloni Michele, from the + studi studio in Vicenza, where we took care of the indoor and outdoor flooring, the bathrooms in large slabs, the cantilevered staircase and the distinctive parapet.

The clients, delightful young people, requested our custom interior design and realization service, thanks to which we curated the kitchen furnishings, took care of the living area, the fireplace zone, the study and the bedroom.

I can tell you that in this home a true team effort was carried out, with a collaboration in perfect synergy between us and the designer, where our technician Alberto coordinated and executed the supply and installation of the interior and exterior colors, the construction of all the plasterboard walls and the supply and installation of both the indoor and outdoor fireplaces.

The outdoor flooring, porcelain stoneware, porphyry and stone cladding

Together with the client, we chose for the interiors a floor in large 120x120 slabs with a plaster effect; this choice immediately projected us outdoors, where we wanted to maintain consistency, both in the material and in the texture.

For this reason, in the walkways surrounding the house we chose the same porcelain stoneware used indoors: a large 120x120 slab, with the same material effect, but with an RPTV anti-slip surface, suitable for outdoor use. This allowed us to achieve a beautiful continuity between surfaces—one of the goals we always pursue in our projects—made very evident by the large windows that make the spaces seem even more spacious and give the feeling that the interior environments open up to the edge of the outdoor flooring.

For the driveway area, we opted for flamed cut porphyry, a material we have known for many years and that performs particularly well outdoors, especially on steep slopes, like the one we paved for this client.

The cladding of the external column is made of elegant Trani stone in flakes, grouted, with a warm and luminous finish that enhances and warms the façade of this house, and which we chose to recall in the cladding of the small wall leading to the garages.

The entrance: large-format flooring and storage unit

For the entire living area, the client, from the very beginning, expressed the desire to have a practical and durable surface, with a modern but not overly so style, which had to perfectly incorporate the kitchen and the fireplace. We evaluated various textures and, after some considerations, a large-format porcelain stoneware was chosen: 120x120 with a concrete-effect surface, scratched, clouded with some corten-colored streaks.

These streaks inspired us for the creation of the kitchen countertop and the fireplace cladding, both finished with large corten-effect porcelain stoneware slabs, which tie in perfectly with the flooring.

For the entrance, we designed a fully custom storage unit, with three large doors for coats and bags. The distinctive feature of this cabinetry is the handle, completely recessed into the door, a functional opening as well as particularly elegant.

Custom kitchen with corten effect and dark wood

Here we are at the queen of the house, the custom kitchen!

We developed the project by giving importance to the large porcelain stoneware countertop, the absolute priority of the clients, who use it a lot: for cooking, having an aperitif with friends, having breakfast, kneading dough. The pantry area was designed with an uncommon height; all the columns are in fact as tall as 250 cm!
To make the best use of all the space, to enhance the verticality of the columns and because we absolutely did not want to leave any empty “gaps”, a lowered ceiling section was also designed, useful as well to house the recessed spotlights.

The kitchen finishes were coordinated with the flooring which, as I told you earlier, features metallic streaks; for this reason we chose corten-effect porcelain stoneware for the countertop and for the column area, specifically inside a “frame”, where it acts as the base for the vertical cladding in wood, the same wood used for the cantilevered staircase and the living room wall.
The kitchen has a matte clay lacquer finish and the handles are integrated into the door, in order to achieve a total look without superstructures. All elements, including the recessed plinth, are in a matte finish and in the same clay color.

You should also know that in our kitchens we always include integrated lighting and provide proper guidance for the appliances, which in this furnishing, for example, were chosen in steel, matching the kitchen mixer tap, and an induction hob with integrated extractor hood was selected.

Living room furnishings in wood, custom-made furniture and lighting

For the living area project, we used a modern wooden boiserie with a dark essence which, as I mentioned earlier, we also carried into the cantilevered staircase and the sleeping area; it is a very variegated and warm oak that pairs particularly well with the porcelain stoneware flooring.

The storage area is represented by a wall-mounted chest of drawers in matte clay lacquer, coordinated with the kitchen, finished with metal shelves, the same material used for the through bookshelf placed next to the fireplace.

As you can understand from this story, the fundamental theme for us is the coherence of materials: we use few, but beautiful ones, and always in continuity!

A distinctive bathroom in the living area

In the bathroom of the living area, we find a custom-made unit separated from the sanitary fixtures and the shower, in order to create a small personal corner for those who simply want to wash their hands; in this room as well, we embraced material consistency, crafting the bathroom countertop in corten-effect porcelain stoneware with an integrated sink and a tap in 316 stainless steel.

The space that houses the sanitary fixtures and the shower is clad in large-format slabs, and with the same material the shower tray was also built on site, to achieve that total look we love and that makes the room distinctive and elegant. In this area too, the fittings are in steel, with elements designed to recreate a wellness space.

Study room, how to furnish it

For the study area, the client’s requests were: a minimal room that could serve both as a study and as a guest room.

Here too, we chose to work with a matte clay lacquer for the custom-made bookshelf that embraces the desk with integrated drawers. On the opposite wall, a practical area was designed, consisting of tall units that frame the sofa bed in a functional and clean way.

Cantilevered wooden staircase, custom-made parapet

The cantilevered staircase is the result of a very careful custom design, starting from the choice of material: wood, the same one we will walk on barefoot in the sleeping area, up to the creation of the steel structure that we anchored to the load-bearing wall and which is necessary to support the cantilevered steps.

The parapet was a difficult choice: the client did not want glass, due to fear of breakage and the difficulty of cleaning. Alternatives with steel cables or already-seen structures did not satisfy them; these squared painted posts were the breakthrough! We first tried placing them in the render, to understand if the direction was right, and from there the realization was confirmed.

The client is particularly satisfied, both for the appealing industrial aesthetic and for its functionality.

Master bedroom furnishings

The master bedroom was a great satisfaction.

A very carefully developed project, designed to make the best use of the vertical space following the slope of the beams, and from there came the idea of a wardrobe with custom columns, fully illuminated and well organized.

The bed is integrated with the bedside tables and the chest of drawers, as only custom-made furniture can achieve, and this allowed us to fully express our design and functional capabilities, creating storage spaces in the best possible way, making use of every corner, with a result that is light yet spacious. Functional yet refined.

This design greatly enhances the integrated wall lighting.

Stone-effect bathroom for the sleeping area

The bathroom in the sleeping area features an anteroom with a custom-made double unit, and a niche fully clad in wood (a clear reference to the flooring), with a countertop made of porcelain stoneware with two integrated sinks.

For this bathroom, we embraced the “box effect” with large stone-effect slabs that rise from the floor up the walls, also enveloping the shower tray in continuity.

A warm bathroom, where you can relax and enjoy long, enveloping showers, made even more rejuvenating by the shower head.

What do these clients think of us?

Thank you!

Thanks also to their architect, Apolloni Michele, from the + studi studio in Vicenza, who deserves credit for the architectural project of this home and who collaborated with us on the finishes and interior furnishings, together with our technician Alberto, whom we also thank.

Thank you for reading this story of mine and for watching the #hometour video! I hope you enjoyed it, that I didn’t bore you, and that I was able to convey the passion with which I designed and followed the works.
