Custom-made furniture: kitchen, entrance furniture and TV unit

In the large open space of the living area we designed for S&F, and their little girl, a spacious custom-made kitchen.

The finishes we chose range among warm tones: the grey-brown shades of the kitchen furniture meet the light tone of the concrete-effect floor and the gres top that recalls Calacatta marble.
For the lacquer of tall units and base units we chose a matte surface, while in the open compartment the cladding is a natural oak, with a tobacco color. This particular wood tone comes from the table, which the clients already owned and which, thanks to a sample I requested from them, we were able to replicate both in the kitchen and in the other furnishings to give a unique coherence to the surfaces.

The open compartment is very convenient as a support point for small appliances and can also be used as an actual worktop; by inserting an LED under the wall unit I improved visibility by illuminating it well along its entire length, while to increase ease of use I created sockets on the back. The tall units were designed at a height of 240 cm and framed by a plasterboard lowering designed to define the structure of the equipped wall.

The peninsula is very large (300x110 cm) and was designed fully equipped on the inner side, and with a large snack area on the front that the clients told us they use a lot for quick lunches and breakfasts. On the peninsula top we recessed the gres sink, made through the bonding and joining of the matte marble effect, and the induction cooktop with a central filtering hood, while in the base units below the dishwasher is concealed, and the spice rack pull-out was chosen precisely as the terminal element of the composition.

For the entrance wardrobe I proposed to the clients to create a composition similar to the equipped wall using the same finishes as the kitchen tall units, in this way the result provides a monolith placed side by side with an incredible visual coherence! The finish of the doors is the same, a matte anthracite grey lacquer, and the scenic concept of the open compartment in wood has also been carried through.

The entrance unit includes a central area entirely in wood, a natural material that surrounds the bench, designed to comfortably put on shoes and slippers and that can also serve as a bag holder, and which composes the coat hooks, a detail designed so that these hooks would become one with the warm and pleasant vertical surface.
Also in this furnishing element, lighting has not been left to chance: we have arranged an LED that backlights the entire niche – just like in the kitchen.

To make use of the visible side of this unit, we designed a practical bookshelf with shelves of various sizes, a three-dimensional play that creates movement and enhances the stairwell space.

This unit was requested by the clients to be very spacious, so I used the entire entrance wall by designing it in a size of about 200x240 cm in height, and it is this width that allowed me to equip it to the point of making it multifunctional.

For the living area furnishing I was asked for a minimal TV unit, so I arranged a simple and clean composition.

The wood used in the other furnishings continues to be the common thread here as well, where we involved it in the creation of a custom-made suspended shelf on which the TV rests. To provide a minimum of storage also in this area, I proposed 3 large drawers underneath, lacquered with the same finish as the other furniture in the open space.
Detail: one of the drawer openings was designed as a flap door, so as to more comfortably accommodate decoder and PlayStation.

During the design phase I also wanted to involve the wall, playing with a paint that had the same RAL as the furnishings. The painter created, following our instructions, a rectangle that frames the wall and recalls the volume of the entrance unit positioned in front; the result is a dark frame that gives depth and movement to the space without weighing it down.

Finally, we added two black metal wall spotlights to create a soft and very pleasant light for family evenings.
